Speech by Yuehan Chen, the team leader from NZ Hubei Economy Trade Culture Association, at the closing ceremony of the summer camp:

Dear leaders of the Wuhan Overseas Chinese Association, distinguished guests, and dear campers, hello everyone!
Happy times always seem to fly by. The ten-day “root-seeking journey” has come to an end in the blink of an eye. The children and I have gained so many precious and unforgettable memories together.

During these ten days, it seems as if we have engaged in a dialogue that transcends time and space:
We are intoxicated by the long river of history.

We were amazed by the thousand-year-old cold light and exquisite craftsmanship of the sword of King Goujian of Yue, and were awed by the ancient chime bells playing the correct sounds of the Chinese nation.

I was amazed by the thousand-year-old cold light and exquisite craftsmanship of the sword of King Goujian of Yue, and was awed by the ancient chime bells playing the correct sounds of the Chinese nation.

In the Yellow Crane Tower, where “An Old Friend Departs from the West” stands, we experience the poetic and picturesque charm.

On the ancient city wall of Jingzhou, one can imagine the tumultuous times of the Three Kingdoms.

We are also fully experiencing the pulse of modern technology,

The Wuhan aerial tramway offers a unique perspective on aerial rail transit.

Dongfeng Mengshi Automobile makes us proud of the technological strength of “Made in China”.

When we stand in front of the Three Gorges Dam and experience this “national treasure” in person, the shock in our hearts is indescribable. The “water elevator” turns natural barriers into thoroughfares, and the magnificent picture of “a calm lake emerging from a high gorge” is a grand exhibition of modern water conservancy technology in China.

Today, standing at the birthplace of the Xinhai Revolution, we have a deeper understanding of the meaning of “root”. I believe that the seeds of Chinese civilization have taken deep root and sprouted in the hearts of the camp members.

The road ahead is long and arduous. We will explore both the East and the West. In the future, these Chinese children from New Zealand will surely become messengers spreading Chinese culture, bringing the heroic journey of Wuhan, the roots of Jingchu(Hubei) culture, and the soul of the nation to every corner of the world.

Thank you very much again!
